S m systems offers superfin, a centrifugal barrel finishing machine. This is a high speed, high force system of mass metal surface refinement. Centrifugal forces in some units run as high as 25 times gravity. The loaded drums are rotated and counter-rotated, building compression of parts against media. Such advanced abrading interaction results in shorter process cycles compared to other vibratory systems. Additionally, centrifugal barrel processing imparts a high compressive strength to the surface of finished parts, improving their resistance to fatigue failure. This machine finds use in a wide range of applications like removing burrs after milling, gear cutting, pressure drawing, pressure stamping, lathe cutting, laser cutting and broaching operations; removing traces after file grinding and sander grinding operations; removing scales after forgings heat treatment operation; chamfering sharp edge and radiusing; and producing brilliant mirror surfaces prior to plating/coating/painting operations. This equipment is suitable for tiny and delicate parts like needles, ring travellers, bobbin parts, compressor reeds, bearing rollers, fountain pen parts, surgical blades, ceramic guides, sheet metal parts, lock parts, real and artificial jewellery, etc. Models are available from 10 ltr to 200 ltr capacity.
