Emco-kimo electronics provides soft starters [series kimodul dma] that are rated for small simple soft starting and soft stopping applications, like small pumps, compressors, fans, blowers, hydraulic pumps, and conveyors. These small din rail mounted soft starters are rated from 2,2 kw to 30 kw, with led indications, internal bypass, and with ramp time and torque adjustment capability. The soft starters are generally two-phase angle control, with thyristors in two phase only, for motors up to 30kw, and for light duty starting. In light starting duty, the total number of start cycles of the motor is limited to 5 to 6 starts per hour. Special pcb versions are available for small to large window air conditioners, and single-phase motor applications like chillers, refrigerators, and for climate control areas tike super markets. Two-phase control is not recommended for motor higher then 30 kw rated motors, due to the high risk of harmonics, high motor temperatures, oscillations to the motor, and other operations related issues. For motors with high operating frequency and larger kw rated motors, it is recommended to us the robust and reliable three-phase angle control soft starters, with six back-to-back thyristors, with a higher reliability and smoother starting characteristics.
