Steel Mart offers Aluminium Alloy Ingot. Steel Mart is an ISO 9001-2000 certified company. The Aluminium Alloy Ingot is used for manufacturing die casting components for 2-wheeler & 4-wheeler in automobile industry and ultimately reduces the total weight of the vehicle and thus saves fuel. Because of its high melting point, Aluminium Alloy is subjected to die casting in a cold chamber in contrast to hot chamber and thus eliminates contamination of molten alloy with iron. Aluminium alloys are mixtures of aluminium with other metals [called an alloy], often with copper, zinc, manganese, silicon, or magnesium. These are much lighter and more corrosion resistant than plain carbon steel. Bare aluminium alloy surfaces will keep their apparent shine in a dry environment due to the formation of a clear, protective oxide layer. Galvanic corrosion can be rapid when the aluminium alloy is placed in electrical contact with stainless steel, or other metals with a more negative corrosion potential than the aluminium alloy in a wet environment.
Aluminium alloy and stainless steel parts should only be used together in water-containing systems or outdoor installations if provision is made for either electrical or electrolytic isolation between the two metals. Aluminium alloy compositions are registered with the Aluminium Association. Many organizations publish more specific standards for the manufacture of Aluminium Alloy Ingots, including the Society of Automotive Engineers Standards Organization, and specifically its aerospace standards subgroups.
