In Mechanical Speed Variator, the motor rotates the solar rings which rotate the Satellite discs These Satellite discs are in contact with the fixed ring & movable cam ring. The Satellite discs rotate around its axis & simultaneously revolve around the solar rings. Speed variation is achieved by rotating the hand wheel which in turn moves the Movable cam ring radially. The Ball cage displace the Movable cam ring, hence changing the rolling contact point of the Satellite discs with solar rings & fixed ring & Movable cam ring. There by achieving speed variation at the output shaft. When the rolling contact point of the fixed ring & Movable cam ring is near the centre of the Satellite discs the out put speed is reduced. Speed variation ratio of 1:5 can be achieved.
