Air feeds have a low investment cost and a very high cost of operation due to the high cost of compressed air, feeder servicing and the cost of bad parts. The mechanical feeder will have a slightly higher initial cost but has zero operation costs for many years and is the logical option for high volume stamping. This feeder has a pitch accuracy of 0.05 mm and can operate up to 600 stroke/min. Setting is quick and easy and a pilot release option is available. These feeders can be retrofitted on any mechanical press that has a power take-off shaft either in the front or the side of the press. The feeding can be left to right, right to left, or even front to back. A wide number of models can feed strips from 0-3.5 mm thickness, strip widths from 60-700 mm, and feed pitch from 50-300 mm.
