Sivananda provides an indigenous portable conductivity meter. This conductive meter is used for easy determination of conductivity of non-ferrous metals based on eddy current principle. A probe is used by this instrument which when placed on the surface of metal indicates conductivity on a linear scale panel meter. Whilst the accuracy claimed is 2%, however, for high conductivity samples an accuracy of better than 1% is easily obtained. The instrument is supplied in a rugged carrying case. Some of the technical features of this conductive meter are: has a measurement time of less than 5 secs per sample with a very fast response. Probes of different diameters [8 mm, 10 mm, 12 mm] are available. Range of conductivity is from 20% to 110% wrtiacs 10 m/ohm mm2 and 64 m/ohm mm2. These conductive meter finds its applications in:: conductivity measurement of electrical conductor made of copper, aluminium and their alloys; segregation of mixed lot of non-ferrous metals; and to detect the subsurface cracks on the metal.
