Haas automation`s new horizontal machining centre - the ec-630 - represents the latest expansion of the company`s rugged line of high-productivity hmcs. The haas ec series machines are proven workhorses. This haas ec series is built with a host of productivity features in their standard configuration. Purchasing expensive options is not required, since the power and performance to cut everthing from high-nickel alloy steel to fine-finished aluminium is built into the machines. Alogical extension of the ec series, the ec-630 is the largest-capacity, high-production machine haas has yet produced. Also standard are 500-ipm rapids, a floppy disk drive, 1 mb of program memory and a 300-psi through-spindle coolant system. Following are some technical features of horizontal machining centre include: a 40" x 32" x 35" work envelope, 50-taper geared-head spindle, dual pallet changer with 630 mm pallets, 50-pocket side-mount tool changer and a built-in 5-degree pallet indexer. A high-precision 1-degree indexer or full 4th axis is also available. Each 630 mm pallet handles a 2640 lb load, and the servo-driven pallet-changer swaps pallets quickly. The operator is allowed to safely load and unload parts or change fixtures on one pallet, while parts are being machined on the other - keeping spindle run-time at a maximum by aseparate, protected load statitions. Parts are accomodated by the machine`s enclosure up to 39.4" in both diameter and height. For long-cycle production with minimal downtime, the ec-630 is equipped with a large-volume coolant tank and a high-capacity belt conveyor for efficient chip removal.
