These are used to flexible shaft couplings are being used to overcome misalignments in the tow shafts and transfer of precise motion from one shaft to other. These are of two types; alluminium screw type and alluminium flange type. These flexible shaft couplings are widely used in shaft encoders, tachogenerators, potentiometers & variacs, damper & fan drives, steppr & synchronous motors. Some key features of these flexible shaft couplings are as follows:

• Monolith construction backlash free

• Torsionally flexible / stiff

• Takes misalignment - lateral [typically 0.2 mm] & angular [typically 5 degrees].

• Permits slight axial movement.

• Precise concentric integral set screw or collet / flange type clamping.

• Compact in size and lightweight with low inertia.

• Suitable as diameter convertor.
