Luminious sales international has developed built-in heatsink rectifier bridge. It can be used in different configurations as doubler or centre tap. The current rating of this device has range of 12/16/ amp. The peak inverse voltage is upto 1,600 v. Care has been taken to maintain surface flatness of the heatsink within the limit which affects the contact thermal resistance, because in order to dissipate heat, a system with a low total thermal resistance is required. The internal pressure loading is carefully chosen to ensure optimum conductivity contacts between semiconductor and direct heatsink, thus ensuring an absolute minimum voltage drop through interconnections. The electrical isolation from the heatsink is given by epoxy which offers good thermal conductivity, yet substantial voltage isolation capability. Apart from its main application in generator sets and automobiles, it is useful in non-controllable rectifiers for ac/ac converters, line rectifier for transistorised ac motor controllers, and field supply for dc motors.
