Ina lineartechnik ohg, germany, has introduced a range of linear actuators, marketed by ina bearings india. A tandem actuator of this type includes two linear ball bearing and guideway assemblies arranged in parallel in a profiled aluminium support rail. A table is placed on top of the two guidance systems and is driven using three pretensioned toothed belts. The actuators can be offered with linear ball bearing and guideway assemblies having two rows of balls [mdkue], four rows of balls [mdkuve] or six rows of balls [mdkuse]. Linear actuators mdkue, mdkuve and mdkuse are useful to move heavy loads with high moment loading about all three axes at speeds up to 3 m/s and accelerations up to 14 m/s2 with high positional accuracy. Since the triple toothed belt enables very high operating forces, this series is ideal for vertical axis applications. It is possible to use an extended table or several tables on the same rail, if even high moment loads occur. The system has a large number of advantages:
- high dynamic load carrying capacity, especially suitable for vertical application;
- high moment load carrying capacity;
- high rigidity; self-supporting profiled rail;
- significantly lower cost than two individual actuators;
- reduced assembly costs due to compact design and
- additional support structures are not required; and
- no need to align two units to each other.
