Channel industries of usa manufactures lead zirconate titanate in six different grades, and barium titanate compositions in three different grades, as well as other specialised compositions. Piezoelectric ceramic materials that are supplied by doon ceratronics, are compounded to have beneficial properties depending upon their end use. It includes two broad categories:
[a] high coercivity power ceramics, which are able to accept high continuous input power and operating at high mechanical stress levels. Important properties of this group of materials are low dielectric and mechanical losses, even at large displacement or acoustic intensities. It finds applications in low and high power sonars, ultrasonic cleaners, ultrasonic welding machines, depth sounders, hydrophones, high dynamic motion transducers, and non-destructive testing.
[b] sensor materials are characterised by high charge and voltage sensitivity with high dielectric constants and resistivity, also low aging of their properties with time. Most of these materials are capable of large displacements with positive applied static electric fields, but are limited in their use as dynamic transducers to a very low power projectors, due to dielectric dissipation at high amplitude. It finds main applications in hydrophones, vibration pickups, accelerometers, receiver transducers, high static motion transducers, non-destructive testing, and audible alarms.
Modified barium titanates are widely useful in transducers requiring moderate power level and receiving sensitivity. Barium titanate has become a proven material due to its special characteristics, for use in devices like depth sounders and expendable hydrophones. Channel industries ceramic elements have typically higher coupling and displacement, than the elements presently available on the market, and are often specified where designs dictate extraordinary ceramic performance.
