Carborundum universal ltd, a flagship company of marugappa group offers a wide range of electro minerals. As part of these products, the company offers semi-friable alumina macro grit. Having brown corundum, it is low titania. It is produced by controlled smelting of special grade bauxite in an electric arc furnace at greater than 2000 deg c followed by an effective cooling process. After that the cooled crude is crushed, cleaned of magnetic impurities and classified into narrow size fractions. The grains are again annealed to achieve desired toughness characteristics.
