Hi-tek engineers` offers open and closed cycle fluid bed designs depending upon the desired product quality and other product variables. The feed is introduced into a fluidised layer of particles through which air is passed. The individual particles become suspended in the air at a given velocity. The drying process engenders a state wherein the particles are fluidised and the product layer gains flow characteristics like a liquid. These dryers can be effectively deployed for selective cooling of hot solids like sugar. The assured solution for drying products, which are difficult to fluidise due to their wide particle size, distribution, fragility and heterogeneous shapes. Advantages: intimate contact of hot air and solids results in high heat transfer coefficient. This makes the drying system compact; mixing of solids leads to a nearly isothermal condition throughout the fluidised bed; no overheating of heat sensitive products because of special constructional features; lower capital cost; no mechanical moving parts, i.E., low maintenance cost; easy control of residence time, simple to adjust moisture content of dried product; and easy handling of the feed and the product.
