Pall pharmalab filtration offers water sensor - an essential tool for fluid condition monitoring. Water contamination in fluids can cause numerous problems such as additive depletion, oil oxidation, corrosion, reduced lubricating film thickness, accelerated component wear rates, microbial growth and reduction of dielectric strength. The sensor measures and displays the relative water saturation of the fluid. It can be used as a monitor indicating the water content of the fluid. Where possible, oils should be operated without the presence of free or emulsified water. The sensor is designed to detect water in solution within the fluid. If oil is cloudy due to high water contamination the sensor will display 100 percent saturation until steps are taken to bring the water content below the saturation point. Based on user selection, the led displays either percentage saturation, temperature or both alternating every few seconds. At 90 percent saturation and above, the led display will flash, drawing attention to the elevated water contamination level. The output relay contacts can be set for high and normal water concentration [normally open and normally closed contacts]. These signals can be used for a remote alarm. The optional 4 20 ma signals [temperature and per cent saturation] can be interfaced to a plc, with direct correlation of electrical current to per cent of saturation and temperature.
