• All aluminium pigments can be divided into two general categories, i.E., leafing and non-leafing.

• In leafing pigments, the aluminium flakes orient themselves in a continuous layer at or near the surface of the film, producing an opaque silver finish.

• The appearance can vary from a coarse, white look to a dark, highly spectacular, or mirror like look

• Grades of leafing aluminium pigments with large flakes provide the least amount of hiding and a coarse texture, but a white finish.

• Non-leafing aluminium pigments are also available in acid resistant grades, used in coatings to minimize the effects of industrial fumes, acid rain, bird droppings, or other undesirable environmental circumstances.
