Chemtron science laboratory has devised a simple and inexpensive unit, model csl dga 492, for analysis of dissolved gas in transformer oil. Components of the dissolved gas analyzer: the system consists of gas extraction unit, gas chromatographic unit, calibration system and other accessories. I] gas extraction unit - the dissolved gases in the transformer oil are extracted in heated condition [80 90[c] in vacuum. The oil is also stirred during extraction by a magnetic stirrer. This system completely extracts the gases dissolved in the transformer oil. The volume of the extracted gas is measured. Ii] gas chromatographic analyser - a portion of the gas is injected into a gc specially tailored for this analysis. It consists of a fid and a tcd with suitable columns. All the constituent gases such as methane, ethane, ethylene, acetylene, propane, propylene are separated and detected by the fid, co and co2 are converted to ch4 by a methanator unit and detected by fid. Csl offers complete system with calibration gases, carrier gas along with the gas extraction unit and chromatographic unit. The company also undertakes the analysis of dga in their lab.
