This tree belongs to the family `Lilliaceae`. It grows in temperate climatic conditions. This tree can be of 12 metres height with single erect stem. The tree is crowned by a dense cluster of flat and narrow leaves. The leaves are leathery, brownish dark green with excellent pinkish red prominent midrib. A tinge of red color at the base of each leaf makes these plants all the more attractive in look. With the recurving lower leaves, these plants can be planted either along walkways or on the border of gardens. Torbay Palms are also used as pot plants that grow well under partial shade during its juvenile stage of growth for 2 to 3 years.
