Amtech introduces active-front-end converters, which are input blocks of variable frequency drives & ups systems of rectifiers. Conventional three phase, 6-pulse diode rectifiers have limitations, like: power factor at the input of the rectifier lowers to 0.86 due to misrepresentation factor of 0.9; injects harmonic currents with total harmonic distortion of 62 percent & power feedback to mains from regenerative load is not feasible. The total harmonic distortion at is turned better to less than 5 percent of the rated load. The power factor at the input is advanced to 0.99 at the rated load & 0.95 at more than 30 percent of rated load. It is a 4-quadrant rectifier. Hence, the power is fed back from the regenerative load through afc. The afcs are used as high power rectifiers at the input of ups/ variable frequency drives which is widely used in complicated operations like water & drainage works, cable car, lift, etc.
