The uninterruptible power supply gives a clean, continuous, stabilised ac sine wave output inspite of variations in the input or the load. The defects of blackouts and brownouts usually present in the main supply are thus eliminated. The ups mainly consists of a float charger, inverter and the necessary protection circuits. The functions of the float charger are to charge the batteries and simultaneously supply power to the inverter. The inverter converts dc to ac to get a stabilised voltage at constant frequency. Lc filter components are perfectly matched to get a clean, distortion free sine wave output. The control circuits maintain the charger and the inverter voltage at the particular level. Instantaneous status of the mains, battery and load are indicated on the front panel. Electronic protection circuits are provided to implement proper and efficient functioning of the inverter and charger.
