Beacon compressor motors are used for driving refrigeration compressors for railway coach air-conditioning.
These motors are totally enclosed fan cooled suitable for rugged service up to a maximum speed of 160 km/h in varying climatic conditions prevailing in india. These are compound wound dc motor suitable for foot mounting and designed for high starting torque required to drive compressor and work satisfactorily between 110 v and 130 v dc. Speed regulation is restricted to 8% over a range of 25% to full load. Minimum efficiency at full load is 86% and can withstand to a substantial over load of 10% for one hour. The various ratings:-
