2 reacts vigorously with common oxidizing agents.

It it used in a mixture with linear alkyl benzenes, chlorobenzenes styrene which is synthetic rubber, cyclohexane [nylon] ,phenol and polyester resins. Benzene is also used in the production of drugs/dyes/insecticides/plastics.
