| Widia [india] ltd, bangalore recently offered a range of new generation milling cutters for multiple applications. To give an example, hexacut m750 is ideal for automotive components for rough and finish milling. It is a multi-teeth face mill equipped with wedge clamp double sided hexagonal inserts. This is appropiate for automotive industry for components like engine blocks, cylinder heads, transmission case, etc. It is a double negative cutter, which is ideally suited for machining short chipping materials like cast iron and sg iron. The insert has got 12 cutting edges. The surface finish that can be obtained with this cutter is up to 8 microns rz. The cutters are available from diameter 125 to 500mm. M76 is for high quality finishing on cast iron auto components. This is an extra close pitch cutter, which enables higher feed rates to get increased output. The closely controlled face run out and fully ground wiper inserts help to obtain surface finish better than 0,8 microns ra. This cutter is available both in compact and split construction. M700 is appropiate for high-speed milling of aluminium components and aluminium alloys. The inserts are made of pcd, which is highly wear resistant which enables this cutter work with higher speeds. It is possible to control the run out axially and radially so that it can work at cutting speeds up to 12,000 m/min. This cutter works at such high speeds due to closely controlled run outs and dynamic balancing of the cutter.
