| Sec machines pvt ltd has introduced 3-axis cnc engraving/milling machines. They are table-top in construction and come in three models. Their model number, table size, and x, y, z axis travel, respectively, are : [a] en-4560, 570 x 710 mm, 450 x 600 x 60 mm; [b] en-4535, 570 x 5 10 mm, 450 x 350 x 60 mm; and [c] en-3020,400 x 300 mm, 300 x 200 x 55 mm. Precision ball screws controls all three axes and the motion is transmitted through precision linear motion systems. The machine has resolution of 0.0125 mm for all three axes. The feed and the plunge rates are variable from 60 mm/min to 720 mm/min. The jobs can be designed on computer using popular software as autocad, coreldraw, powerpoint, etc, and then can be machined by exporting it to a dedicated cam software supplied with the machine. The software can generate tool paths for simple applications like engraving, filling, and routing. It can also generate within seconds toolpaths for 3d volumetric profiles. As the cam software is able to handle both the scanned images, also vector images, it supports the number of file formats like bmp and tiff. In case of engraving, these packages enable the designer immense flexibility in terms of available fonts, letter sizes and spacing, scaling of designs, and design modification. In fact, there are over one thousand fonts available for use with these design packages. Each of these fonts have variations for normal, italics, bold, italics bold, etc. Even a printed design or a sketch can also be taken to the cam software by scanning the image. By giving colour attributes to 2d designs, required 3d volumetric shapes are generated from 2d designs in seconds. These machines are usable for a number of applications like electrode making, punch dies, vacuum forming dies, shoe sole dies, soap dies, watch case dies, embossing dies, biscuit dies, coin dies, silver spoon dies, etc. Moreover, it is used to make rubber stereos, rubber stamps, labels, name plates, mementos, medals, architectural models, for prototypes, etc. These machines are extremely useful for making jewellery dies for pendants and also for casting dies. The machine can cut various materials ranging from acrylic and plexiglass to aluminium, brass, copper and is also capable of engraving on steel. [stall 3, hall of nations, mezzanin floor, imtex-98.]
