It is designed for plated calibration thickness standards or in applications to frequently measure chrome and other hard platings. Model etg-a, electronic coating thickness gauge [ferrous, the automotive model] is designed for measuring paint, on steel and has special circuitry to minimise the effect of the substrate on readings. Model etg-n, the non-ferrous model,faultlessly measures the thickness of non-conductive coatings on non-ferrous metals, such as aluminium and brass.
