Mechelonic engineers manufactures a hydraulically operated flash butt welder. These welders are specially designed for steel strips welding application of steel mills, tube mills and wheel rim factories, etc. It has strips of width 50 to 200 mm and thickness 1.4 to 3 mm with in-situ stripping unit to remove weld flash. Fully solid state electronic controls are provided for accurate and consistent weld results. This welder offers semi-automatic and fully automatic modes of operations. The operation sequence includes manual locating and clamping of leading edges of one strip and trailing edge of other strip. In the beginning, the weld schedule is executed automatically, the in-situ stripping unit removes the weld flash and retracts to home position, declamps, and the machine resets. It has following specifications:
- nominal rating - 100 kva;
- short circuit secondary current - 20 ka;
- maximum upsetting force - 6000 kgf;
- maximum clamping force - 12,000 kgf; and
- weldability of steel - 750 sq mm.
