| Pune-based magnafield supplies magnaport 1000 mk3, an electromagnet crack detector, specially designed for use as a portable unit. It is generally supplied for table mounting and can be lifted by handle by a single person.The accessories are contained in a sturdy can vas bag. A special box type trolley with locking arrangement for accessories is available as an optional accessory. A pram type trolley for easy maneuverability is also available. The equipment is appropiate for detecting all surfaces and sub-surface cracks upto a depth of 6 mm in ferro-magnetic objects of any shape and size. Demagnetization is achieved by the coil method by forming the high current cable into a coil of suitable diameter. Facility for remote control operation has been provided. Applications of the detector include detection of cracks in welds and castings, longitudinal and traverse cracks in shafts, bars, billets and tubes, longitudinal and radial cracks in hollow components such as bearing races, gears and gudgeon pins, peripheral cracks in hollow components such as bearing races, gears. Demagnetisation is both manual and automatic. Large components can be successfully demagnetized by positioning them vertically, and pulling out the coil starting at the bottom and right out of the top, to a safe distance while ac is passing through the coil. Facility for automatic mode of demagnetization is also provided as an optional characteristic. In this mode of operation the component remains at site and current decrement takes place automatically on momentarily pressing a push button.
