| Leonardo engineering offers in-line flowmeters for oil/petroleum based fluids and water applications. This is a variable area type flow meter, using a sharp edged annular orifice, formed between the piston and the tapered metering cone. The piston assembly is held in a no-flow position at the base of the cone, by calibrated retention springs. Flow through the meter creates a pressure differential across the piston orifice, moving the piston against, the retaining spring.Piston movement and area are proportional to the rate of flow. Therefore, the greater the rate of flow, the further the piston moves along with tapered metering cone. The main body is made of acrylic/polycarbonate material. This can withstand considerable shock load without breakage.The cone and piston assembly is made of anodised aluminium. This makes the flow meter very light. The use of stainless steel spring makes the meter suitable for water applications also.Nitrile rubber seals are used, as standard. Others seals available on request. Flow straighteners or special piping is not required. It can be installed immediately adjacent to right angle elbow or other piping fixture. Thus providing greater system design flexibility. This feature also saves time and money during installation
