| Integrated process systems offers effective spot welding. Spot-welding is the most often used joining process in vehicle construction and is almost exclusively performed by robots. Consistent high-quality welding can be maintained only by monitoring the electrode force and force characteristic during welding. This is also applicable to other resistance welding methods. Stationary spot welding machines can be manufactured with kistler quartz force sensors directly in the force flux, i.E., in a welding gun, or with a quartz strain in the machine bed for indirect measurement of the force. While using welding robots, it is usually best to check electrode forces regularly with a force sensor. A metering station made with a sensor is used for this purpose. It is approached by the robot [welding gun], at a specific interval to check that the force is within the permitted limits. However, the sensor is also appropriate for hand-held operation along with a welding monitor. This type of measurement involves high currents of several thousand amperes and is exactly the type, of measurement where quartz sensors really come into their own. Measuring results are not influenced by electric or magnetic fields.
