Entek ird offers oil analysis systems—digital contam-alert, ferrous contam alert and digital visc alert. The digital contam alert [dca] is a portable instrument used for on site oil analysis in conjunction with the portable condition monitor [pcm] data collector that enables quick checking of particle counts in the lubricating and hydraulic oils. Particle counting is considered the "first check" in oil analysis, and is used to screen machine conditions before conducting further analysis. The dca can help stop machine wear before it starts, by providing immediate information about the health of the machines, over powering the lab analysis, that takes days or even weeks for the results —time that could prove damaging to a machine with high particle counts. Also, controlling contamination can extend the life of additives and oils. The dcas patented pore blockage technology is perfectly suited for field use, as its accuracy is unaffected by fluid colour, the presence of air or water, particle shape, or reflectivity. For on site wear debris monitoring, the ferrous contam alert is a ferrous particle counter that works with the dca and pcm data collector combination, enhancing particle counting by determining whether particles are wear debris or non wear debris. For on site viscosity monitoring, the digital visc alert [dva], together with the pcm data collector, provides fast, reliable viscosity testing, as it is the most important physical property of a lubricant. It is essential in providing critical clearances between moving and sliding surfaces and measures absolute viscosity which is the purest form of viscosity and preferred for the analysis of used oil.
