Marshall industries has introduced a number of new features to all models of its gautam heavy duty all geared capstan lathes. These include a very rigid single piece ci base with in-built coolant tank; heavier ribbing on beds; antifriction [turcite ®-b] lining on main saddle as well as turret slide for smoother movement and longer life; improved wipers for saddle and turret slide; centralised lubrication to turret feedbox and slide. Its capstans are ideal for machining medium to large batches of components requiring accuracy as well as heavy rate of metal removal. They are most suitable for machining castings/forgings held in chucks. Model g-4d has specifications similar to herberl no: 4 but is economically priced. In addition, two other models gs 50 and gs 36 [with 50 mm and 36 mm bar capacities] are offered. Heavier versions with larger swing over bed and higher power for machining large castings and forgings can be supplied as per customers requirements. All these models are supplied with multi-plate mechanical friction clutch in headstock to enable shifting of spindle speeds without stopping the machine and to provide overload and accident protection. Apart from the standard capstans, the company manufactures several upgraded variants; with electromagnetic clutches in headstock; with two-speed drive motor; with both the features and plc control for automatic [preoptive] spindle speed change for various turret positions; with plc controlled fully automatic cycle with hydraulic feed. Marshall industries also supplies a wide range of other machine tools including all geared lathes, hydraulic multi-spindle drilling machines and extra heavy duty all-geared lathes.
