Both are of compact design, with different components such as centrifugal fan, the cyclone or the fabric filter bag, with the manual shaking device and the dust container housed together to occupy minimum space. Due to suction created by the fan, dust-laden air penetrates the cyclone and the dust is separated from the air by centrifugal force. The comparatively clean air is exhausted through the fan outlet and the separated dust is collected in the dust container provided at the bottom of the unit, from where it is manually disposed. Another type of unit dust collector with fabric bags for smaller dust extraction requirements is suitable for collection of fine dry dust. This unit has resulted to be most suitable for prevention of dust hazards in many process industries such as leather, sugar and grain handling.
