These are variably used in process industries for removal of valuable product from air/gas streams, either at intermediate stages or at the end of the production process. A cyclone is an extremely economical means of recovering many types of products from spray driers, kilns, fluid bed reactors and similar process equipment. Other types of collectors, such as scrubbers, fabric filters and precipitators are sensitive to high loadings of particulates. Excessive amounts of particulate matter overload them and cause them to malfunction. But, the cyclones protect these devices and allow them to function at peak efficiency.
