Mtab engineers has introduced starturn brand cnc bench turning centre, in technical collaboration with denford ltd, uk. Starturn is encoded using iso format, with the facility for proving the program using 2d or full 3d colour tool path graphics. The software features all the major functions and facilities used on industrial control systems that can be emulated by incorporating the denford desktop tutor. Further options of linking to a range of cad/cam systems and incorporating the starturn into flexible manufacturing systems also come. Control software features of starturn are as follows:
- simultaneously controlled axes x and z;
- full circular interpolation;
- combined use of absolute and incremental in same block;
- internal/external screw cutting;
- imperial or metric programming;
- diameter or radius programming;
- subprogram with repeat facility/program call;
- canned turning cycles;
- roughing and finishing cycles;
- output to printer of punch tape;
- tool offsets for 16 tools;
- tool nose radius compensation;
- tool wear compensation; dry run facility;
- single block and auto execution; datum shift; and block skip function.
Optional equipment and accessories include are as follows:
Printers, plotters, computers, disc drivers, machine and computer cabinets, spray mist coolant, pneumatic chuck, 8 station programmable tool post, extra software packages for use on additional micros, cnc teaching software, desk top tutor, practical cnc training - book and overhead slides.
Safety features of starturn are as given:
Ergonomically placed emergency stop button, key operated isolation switch, totally enclosed; interlocked chuck guard, axes over travel switches - adjustable on z and tool path graphics option to check programs before machining.
