| Allied-make rotary carburiser is widely used for gas carburising of small components, and has proven advantages over other types of furnaces in terms of excellent and consistent results. In addition to carburising, these furnaces are extensively used for hardening, annealing, or normalizing under a controlled atmosphere. The furnace is constructed gas tight to prevent any ingress of air entering the retort. Advantages: temperature uniformity - due to thorough mixing of the components inside the rotary retort, the rapid heat up of the components without over heating; retort - manufactured from high-grade nickel alloy stainless steel, suitable for high temperature and specially suited to handle small components; low maintenance - since moving parts of the furnace are located outside, maintenance is almost negligible; and operating cost-efficient refractory retort life. Construction features: casing - cylindrical shape, fabricated from low carbon steel of heavy section; retort support rolls - 2 rollers with bearings; refractory lining - ceramic fibre, to improve the thermal efficiency, if need be, brick lined insulation also; heating system - either be electrically heated or with lp gas fired system; and tilting mechanism - hydraulically operated tilting device.
