Jassons diamond products (p) ltd provided super abrasive honing sticks such as diamond/cubic boron nitride sticks for increased stock removal rates for getting accurate surface finish in mass production honing applications. Honing sticks are available in various sizes and bond qualities in various grit sizes as per fepa standards to meet actual working conditions of honing operations. Conventional abrasives, viz, aluminium oxides/silicon carbide remove small amount of stock not satisfactory on hard materials, super abrasives, in spite of high initial cost, out perform due to longer life of sticks, faster cutting, consistent finish, lower honing cost/component. Super abrasive honing replaces fine boring, id grinding and certain lapping applications. Diamond sticks are available for cemented carbides, soft steel, cast iron, chrome plated layers, nitrided steels, aluminium/non ferrous materials glass materials in typical parts such as weapon parts, connecting rods, cylinder blocks/liners, sintered gears, bushes, brake cylinders. Cubic boron nitride sticks are used for hardened special steels of 60 hrc range in connecting rods, injection pumps, bearings hydraulic valves, etc. Needed ra, rz, rtmax finish is obtained by varying bond and grit with respect to honing component.
