Gemplus provides operating system for sim/gsm smart cards. Gemxplore is a new application for attracting new customers, for example through telebetting. This demo runs on a computer tv that shows four or five different horse races. The gsm subscriber is then allowed to bet on a horse by typing its number. The bet is sent to the computer through the gsm network. When the race is over, the player receives a short message notifying the result. With the teleservices, gsm end users can ask for the weather forecast, cinema programs and other features through typing their choice on the gsm handset. The handset and the sim card can send the request through the gsm network to the relevant server which feeds back to end users by paging them.
