| Electronic laboratories offers reliable cvt types ferro-resonant dc power supplies. The dc power supply has sinusoidal main input current waveform with low harmonic content whereas output with no series element for output voltage control. The ferro-resonant transformer in the dc power supply converts input voltage to quasi square-waveform to dc voltage and ripple is filtered by inductor and/ or capacitor input filter. The output is current limited and the supply is short-circuit proof if all the components are properly rated. Multiple dc outputs are possible. This power-supply eliminates to and fro noise from main input. The dc power supply comes with salient feature like i] the construction of ferro-resonant transformer is like that of ultra-isolation transformer. The primary and secondary are physically separated and have very low capacitance between them. Ii] the equivalent circuit of the transformer is a low-pass filter. Iii] the secondary is tuned to mains frequency giving low impedance to others and low frequency transformer core present higher loss at higher frequencies. This power-supply has features of quick changeable input voltage and load-change response. The output voltage variation is linearly proportional to the input frequency change due to its ferro-resonant nature. The overall temperature rise can be controlled. The advantages and disadvantages of this reliable dc power supply makes it not proper for some applications where weight matters like stationary control panels, inductive and switching loads like relays, solenoids, etc.
