These gas springs can be blocked in any particular position with spring or rigid blocking in the extension or compression direction depending on the design. In spring blocking type gas springs, the piston moves over the stroke in the gas medium, as the gas is compressible. By integrating the valve into the piston the variable blocking is achieved, which separates both pressure chambers. The gas spring is blocked when the valve is closed, interrupting gas exchange between both pressure chambers. The valve of the gas springs closes automatically when the valve pin is released externally. Super-block type of gas spring offers advantages like infinite blocking, controlled speed, and extension force as required, small dimensions and compact design.
