These strain gauges are contructed by bonding fine electric resistance wires or photo-etched metallic resistance foils to electric insulation base-attaching gauge leads. This results in fine wires or foils experiencing resistance variation, exactly proportional to the strain. The strain gauges are connected to strain meters and are measured on digital or analogue display. Available in different types, the strain gauges are also used for mechanical, marine, aircraft, civil engineering applications and for use in automobile, architecture and medical applications.
