Cost effectiveness of these aseptic pouch machines: traditionally aseptic systems employ a rigid or semi rigid package-making machine where initial capital costs and packing media costs hold high percentage of sale prices of a product. Aseptic pouch system development has the following economical benefits: helps reduce initial capital cost; acceptable level of technology easily adoptable even by ssis; cost reduction of final package that offers considerable cost benefit to ultimate consumer; and an easily disposable/recyclable packaging media that offers environment safety. Design features and specifications of the aseptic pouch machine: machine designed to aseptic norms for long shelf life of perishable liquid products, with total construction in ss; three side pouch format/style for better seal integrity; proven chemical film web sterilization; designed to ensure double sterilization effect; hot sterile air masking; fully automatic plc controlled machine with output speed of about 2000 pouches/hr and uses multi-layered co-extruded film of approx 100 m thickness; and fill volumes available are from 200 to 1000 ml, adjustable. Applications in the food industry: the machine is ideal for packing various perishable food products like plain milk, toned milk, flavored milk, fruit pulp and juices, etc. Comparative features of the aseptic pouch machine: pouches are approximately 3 to 4 times economical than conventional aseptic packaging using hdpe bottles and about 2.5 times cheaper than carton bricks. Major advantages for the food industry include: longer shelf life of product, up to 3 months; no need of cold chain for transportation and storage; products once aseptically packed can travel longer distances without requiring cold chain, hence great reduction in product wastage due to non-refrigeration; cost and environmental hazards of refrigeration system eliminated; festive season demands can be reasonably met; and easy distribution in areas with scarcity the cost benefit of aseptically packed goods can be enjoyed.
