Sandvik asia offers alpha 2 tft high performance drills for machining deeper holes with external coolant supply. Existing conventional solid carbide drills without internal coolant supply ensure efficient metal cutting in steel material only up to drilling depths of approx 3xd. To go beyond this depth results in chip jamming accompanied by a considerable increase in the drilling torque with the consequence of frequent tool breakage. Alternatively the cutting edges are so severely damaged only short tool life is attained. This new alpha 2 tft overcomes all these problems due to the newly developed tinal futura top coating. This coating is based on the well proven multi layer coating combined with a new surface treatment process that smooths the coating to make sure excellent sliding properties exists between the chips and flutes of the drills. These drills come in diameter range of 3 mm to 20 mm in both standard cylindrical shank and whistle notch shank.
