| The smb rotoshear rotary screen is a high capacity fine wedgewire screen that is developed with new design enhancements in various models with slot opening sizes from 0.25 - 1.5 mm and hydraulic capacities 100-500 m3/ hr. The material standard is ss 304, but 316 and l grades are available as well. The rotoshear unit operates with minimal attendance. The juice enters through the inlet and flows into a head box. The head box fills and the juice cascades over the weirs and contracts two sides of the rotating cylindrical screen. As the juice hits the turning screen, the solids are caught inside the cylinder and the liquid passes through the screen and collected in the bottom trough. Diverters on the cylinder move the solids along the length of the screen to discharge. The rotary screen is made of 304 ss wedge wire, recognised for its ability to handle stringy fibres, greasy solids and high concentrations of suspended solids without blinding. It is corrosion-resistant, durable and will give years of trouble-free service. The unit employs drive operation with the chain/pinion rotating the screen @ 12 to 13 rpm. Automatic oiling/grease pockets are provided for better lubrication. An efficient motor drives the entire operation from 2 to 10 hp depending upon the size of the unit. The unit has two separate screen cleaning systems: an internal spray to clean the screening surface or the cylinder, and an external spray system to keep the screen openings clear. Sprays can be set to perform automatic wash-down at times intervals.
