Sonisat manufactures floating holders for reaming and tapping. The purpose of the floating holder is to compensate with the misalignment between tool and work - where reaming, tapping or similar operations are being performed in different stations after holes are drilled. A double gear spline drive coupling is used in this holders for the neutralizing or intermediate driving member. The constant changing of the splines in contact causes a rocking or weaving action of the drive coupling. Giving the lubricant a continuous flow in and out of the splines - positive lubrication that cushions torsional shock overload and reduces wear.In this floating holders two standard thrust bearings are placed close together. This minimizes the effect of the force applied on the tool by the hole and allows the tool to freely float into alignment. As the floating element is separated from the drive, the balls now move freely in the required direction or rotate around the collet. This technic eliminates reciprocating movement and increases the life of the bearings. The shell houses the floating and driving elements and acts as a perfect seal. The splined holes are sealed for operating by simply turning the shell an inch or so in either direction. The double gear spline drive coupling and independent standard thrust bearings permit equal freedom of float in all directions. The unrestricted movement of the floating and driving elements instantly corrects the misalignment.
