The control group presents microprocessor based over current trip device. It is a true rms sensing over current device, needing no external supply for its basic function. It isoffered in two types, ie, it-100 for industrial application and it-g for generator protection. Its salient features are as follows: error free and user-friendly setting of current and time delay; gives highest degree of system protection coordination; self powered by the built in current transformer; no mal-operation due to external disturbances; built-in operation check function; visual fault discrimination by leds; three phase and earth fault in one single compact unit; self-monitoring of trip unit with blinking indication; and function blocking facility provided. Characteristics curves it-100 [for industrial applications]: setting of overload current [ltd]; ltd time - minimum setting - 2.5 sec; setting range - 2.5, 5 ….To 35 sec [in steps of 2.5 sec]; setting of short circuit current [std]; std time - minimum setting 50 ms; setting range 50, 100, ….550 ms [in steps of 50 ms]; ground fault setting [gft] gft time - minimum setting 50 ms; setting range 50, 100, ….550 ms [in steps of 50 ms]; thermal-magnetic trip device; direct acting instantaneous trip with settings, 5-50 ka; adjustable overload settings 80-120 percent ; and provision for remote tripping/electrical reset as optional features with overload relay.
