Colourless Aromatic Type Plasticizer is the aromatic diester of n-butyl alcohol and phthalic acid, manufactured by catalytic esterification of n-butyl alcohol with phthalic anhydride. The Plasticizer is a colourless to very pale yellow liquid with characteristic ester odour. The Plasticizer finds applications in nitro cellulose lacquers, elastomers, explosives, nail polish, as a solvent for perfumery oils and perfumery fixative, textile lubricating agent, safety glasses, insecticides as a mite repellant, printing inks, paper coating and adhesives and as a plasticizer for polystyrene, polyvinyl and methacrylate resins. The Colourless Aromatic Type Plasticizer gives longer life to outside varnishes exposed to sunlight and weather and is often used to grind colouring matter intended for incorporation into films or plastic.
