Mettler toledo is famous for manufacturing a variety of thermal analytical accessories needed in the laboratory weighing equipments. In single cantilever the sample is clamped only on one side. This mode is particularly useful for samples that expand or shrink along the axial sample direction. Single cantilever is frequently used for thermoplastic material studies.
Dual cantilever measuring systems are similar to 3-point bending except that the ends of the sample are clamped. This mode is especially suitable for samples that would otherwise bend excessively under static stress. Examples of this are thermo sets and thermoplastics.
