Autonics corporation supplies bw series area sensors. Function of area sensors are used to detect the presence of any object between the emitter and receiver. This sensor comes with 12 msec response time and i p65 protection. A variety of 22 types of area sensors are available with autonics. A beam to beam distance measures of 20/40 mm is available. By specification the maximum sensing range of 7 m is possible by area sensors. Different field heights of 120-940 mm are available in this series. This sensor comes with a self-diagnosis function. It will monitor the ambient light, emitter/receiver light circuit and output circuit. The number of beams depends on the length of the area sensor. As many as 4 to 48 number of beams are available. The unit will work with 12-24 vdc power and will provide npn/pnp open collector output of maximum 100 ma. The units are light on mode type. Short circuit protection is there for this sensor. The beam is invisible modulated infrared, so immune to a great degree of the sunlight as well as the incandescent lamps. Two area sensors can be put in parallel in the master/slave mode arrangement which helps in avoiding interference. The housing of this sensor is aluminum with scratch-proof front side.
