Greaves has introduced microprocessor-based plastic injection moulding machines manufactured with indigenous technology by menon and menon, kolhapur. A typical machine include a clamp unit, an injection unit and electronic controls. The clamp unit include a five point vertical toggle system developed by computer simulation and cad technique. Optimum weight strength ratio and minimum deflection at full load is assured by sg ironmould platens and toggles. There is a centralized auto lubrication system, and is provided with hydraulic, electrical and mechanical safety. The injection unit has a nitrided barrel and screw along with long l/d ratio and optimum geometry for better plasticizing with homogeneous melt. It has 4 speed, 4 pressure injection control system with 2 hold on pressures. The electronic controls feature a mitsubishi microprocessor-controller with backlit lcd screen. Salient features of the control unit are as follows:
- cold start prevention,
- auto heating,
- plc control system with cvt,
- star delta motor start, etc.
The control system requires voltage of 24 v dc. As a whole the moulding machine encompasses all safety controls and protection devices, with the relevant alarm systems.
