Some of the salient features of these extreme flat lapping machines include zero ring concept; bottom construction similar to ssm series; 18" to 48" lap plate diameter; part/parts held by pressure plate by air pressure, pressure plate rotates and also traverses along the cross-section of the lap plate; unique movement feature to always maintain flatness of the lap plate; absence of conditioning rings ensure all abrasive media only for the parts and economy of abrasive utilization; restriction on the lap plate condition for maximum part size for standard single side machine eliminated as plate flatness is ensured; standard supply includes variable speed for lap plate and pressure plate travel; rigid pressure plate traverse coupled with infinitely variable positive movements ensuring downtime elimination required for lap plate correction; extremely useful were part sizes vary drastically and batches; a useful lapping concept, when the weight of the part far exceeds the area of the part to be lapped.
