Stepper motor is a device used to convert electrical pulses into discrete mechanical movements. Stepper motors are 2 phase permanent magnet motors, which provide discrete angular movement every time the polarity of winding is changed.
Digital linear actuators are modified rotary stepper motors with rotors that include molded threads that mate to an externally threaded shaft [lead screw]. Rotary motion is converted to linear movement, with travel per step determined by the pitch of the lead screw & step angle of the motor.
